Designed for government officials and technical advisors, the Disaster Risk Management Division (DRMD) alongside the Ministry of Finance, National Planning and Trade (MFNPT) attended the Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) Financing workshop at the United Nations office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) Global Education and Training Institute in Incheon, South Korea, from Tuesday 24th September 2024 to Friday 27th September 2024.

As the main objective of the workshop is to build national frameworks for DRR financing by equipping participants with the appropriate financial mechanisms to mobilise and secure funding for DRR expenditures through global initiatives from development partners. These skills will be obtained through the immersive hands-on training sessions of assessing the financial landscapes of various countries.

This crucial training will further strengthen Seychelles continuous efforts to construct resilient infrastructures, mitigate the financial impacts of disasters in alignment with the National Disaster Risk Reduction Strategic Action Plan 2021-2030 and the development of a National Disaster Risk Reduction Financing Strategy.

Representing Seychelles from DRMD are Mr. Daniel Cetoupe, Chief Risk Management Officer and from MFNPT Ms. Riennie Dugasse, Finance Analyst.
