As the key stakeholder and the national body for Disaster management in Seychelles, the Disaster Risk Management Division (DRMD) participated in the Seychelles Petroleum Company Ltd (SEYPEC Ltd) annual Fire Alert Drill, conducted on La Digue, at the Petrol Station, Wednesday 27th November 2024.

Setting the La Digue petrol station in a flame of smoke through a smoke machine, representing an occurring fire, SEYPEC aimed to assess the capacity of the petrol station operators, and evaluate the response time of emergency responders. The activity also aimed to evaluate the La Digue resident’s reaction to an occurring fire at the petrol station.

As an ongoing effort to engage and sensitise our youths and leaders of tomorrow, the La Digue Primary 1 was also invited as observers and briefed on the importance and procedures of fire safety.

Representing the division as observers of the exercise were; Mr. Henry Moustache, Risk Management Officer of the Planning and Preparedness Unit, Lt. Daniel Agnes, liaison officer, and Mr. Gabriel Payet, Response Officer of the National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC).
