Following the official ticket ceremony, technical experts from the St. Louis Hill Stabilisation Project departed for Lungern, Switzerland, to participate in an intensive week-long training programme held from Monday, 17th to Saturday, 22nd March 2025.
The delegation included: Mr. Simon Dugasse, representing the Disaster Risk Management Division (DRMD), Mr. Mikael Evenor and Mr. Dean Morel, representing the Seychelles Infrastructure Agency (SIA), Mr. Jean-Luc Mondon, Geologist, Mr. Kevin Sophola, representing the Seychelles Planning Authority (SPA). The team was also accompanied by Hon. Sathya Naidu, MNA of St. Louis District.
The training focused on mitigation and prevention measures for rockfalls and landslides, equipping participants with both practical and theoretical knowledge in key areas such as: Site assessments, On-site project management, Bedrock drilling and Rockfall barrier installation techniques.
Organised by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) in close collaboration with Gasser Felstechnik, this programme aimed to enhance local technical capacity. The expertise gained will be directly applied to the St. Louis Hill Stabilisation Project and shared with other stakeholders involved in slope stabilisation efforts across the country.
