In commemoration of Cleanup the World 2024, the Disaster Risk Management Division organized a clean-up activity at Anse Royale Beach, alongside the Anglican Church, a recognized hotspot for environmental pollution. This initiative aimed not only to beautify the area but also to raise awareness about the importance of maintaining a clean environment.
A clean environment is crucial for the well-being of both communities and the country. It significantly reduces the risks of disease outbreaks, such as cholera, leptospirosis and other vector-borne illnesses.
Moreover, clean-up activities like this is an essential component of disaster risk reduction measures. By addressing environmental issues proactively, communities can mitigate the impacts of potential disasters, such as flooding and landslides, which are often worsen by litter and waste.
